How to join and extend the mesh.

MeshCore

MeshCore is the statewide backbone we build and maintain. Use the US preset on companions and repeaters. Why we standardized on MeshCore.

  • Preset: United States (US)
  • Hash mode: 2-byte

MeshCore repeaters

Repeaters use the same US preset and hash mode as clients. Flash repeater firmware, then match the CLI prefs MeshEnvy documents for field nodes. Turnkey hardware options are on the Equipment page.

Meshtastic

MeshEnvy standardized on MeshCore for the statewide backbone after running both stacks in the field. We still love and contribute to Meshtastic and MeshCore. For why we chose MeshCore for Nevada-scale work, see Migrating to MeshCore.

The two meshes in Nevada are mostly separate. Some volunteers run gateways so you can exchange messages across protocols.

To find Meshtastic users near you, start on the stock US preset. If the band seems quiet, try Long Fast or Medium Fast. MeshEnvy-coordinated repeaters in northern and central Nevada use Medium Fast.
