If you hang around the off-grid tech space long enough, the words start to bleed together. Mesh, LoRa, Off-Grid, Decentralized. We use them like they're synonyms, but if we're being honest with ourselves, they aren't.

Lately, I've been thinking about what we're actually trying to build here. Is it just a hobbyist version of the cellular network, or is it something fundamentally different?

On November 28, 2025, MeshEnvy NCC reached its most significant organizational milestone to date: we are now officially recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

MeshEnvy NCC has elected its inaugural Board of Directors, marking a major milestone on our path to nonprofit status and statewide mesh coverage. The board blends decades of technical execution with nonprofit governance so we can scale responsibly while staying true to Nevada's mesh community.

MeshEnvy NCC now has its official Nevada community communications credentials locked in. The Nevada Secretary of State issued our Entity ID E52600402025-2 and Business ID NV20253463357, confirming that MeshEnvy NCC is formally recognized by the state. In parallel, the IRS assigned our Employer Identification Number (EIN) 41-2583340, allowing us to stand up banking, manage donations, and keep finances transparent as we grow.

We're excited to announce that MeshEnvy NCC has officially submitted our Articles of Incorporation to the Nevada Secretary of State. This marks a pivotal milestone in our journey to formalize our organization and expand our mission across Nevada.

On Tuesday, October 21st, MeshEnvy held a general meeting at Coffee n Comics in Reno, bringing together a diverse group of community members, students, emergency responders, and mesh networking enthusiasts to discuss our mission and next steps.

We're thrilled to announce that our GoFundMe campaign is now live! This is the first step toward making Nevada-wide mesh network coverage a reality.

We're excited to share that MeshEnvy is exploring the path toward becoming a Nevada nonprofit organization. This would be a significant step forward in our mission to build resilient mesh networks across the Silver State.

Before we conquer all of Nevada, let's start with something ambitious yet achievable: connecting Reno to the Black Rock Desert playa where Burning Man is held.
